Helping adopted rescues and their families start their new life together on a positive paw.
While potential caregivers have one goal in mind, finding their dream dog, the full circle of the dog rescue begins with intake and continues with the huge responsibility of the rescue organization to manage the kennel and foster environment, care for the dog, and ultimately make a marvelous match.
In Arlington, VA trainers Tammy Rosen, (CPDT-KA) Fur-Get Me Not Owner and Lead Instructor, and Vivian Leven Shoemaker, (CPDT-KA) Dog Training Director and Lead Instructor, are taking their commitment to the community and the power of Positive Training to the highest level.
Fur-Get Me Not collaborates with three local rescue and shelter organizations: The Animal Welfare League of Arlington, Homeward Trails Animal Rescue, and Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. Free of charge, Fur-Get Me Not offers special seminars and workshops to their Rescue Partners, helping staff and volunteers with dog handling and rehabilitative skills.
Recently, Daisy, a brown brindle and white Pit Bull Terrier mix, was the Special Guest at The Animal Welfare League’s Volunteer Training Session with Fur-Get Me Not. AWLA staff and volunteers are continually working hard to enhance their positive kennel environment for all dogs in their care. To increase adoptability, particularly for Pit Bulls like Daisy and other Bully Breeds, who will likely remain at the Shelter twice as long as other breeds, diffusing stress, managing unwanted behaviors, and incorporating positive dog training techniques into their daily routine is extremely important.
For the adopter, after the excitement of dreaming, then searching, finding, and adopting a family companion from one of these three rescue partners, Fur-Get Me Not aids new parents in their lifetime commitment of responsible ownership, positive education, and socialization. Within the first 30 days of adoption, a Fur-Get Me Not trainer will provide a free ($45 value) 30-minute private phone consultation, an important opportunity to ask questions, discuss concerns and issues, and obtain general advice on how to transition your new family member into your life.
Fur-Get Me Not, a full-service pet care company in Arlington, VA, offers a full range of Positive Dog Training Workshops and Specialty Classes to enhance your relationship with your dog.
